The driveway is usually the limit, not the size of the house. A compact excavator handles most inner-city knock-downs and strip-outs. It can work in a terrace driveway without taking out the neighbour's fence. Rear additions off a laneway, overhead wires, and stairs that a bucket cannot reach are hand work, jackhammers, and sometimes a crane for a beam.
Trucks matter as much as the excavator. Spoil and demolition waste have to leave the street without blocking it all day. We look at parking, turning, and how many loads the job will take before we quote. A tight Bondi or Marrickville street is a different plan to an open Central Coast block. The method changes. The licences do not.
